The Server & Tools Group in Microsoft’s Legal and Corporate Affairs department is looking for an attorney to support the Microsoft Online business, which delivers enterprise-class online or “cloud” services to business customers. Microsoft Online combines powerful client and server software with flexible services offerings for the enterprise. This attorney will support Microsoft’s emerging enterprise “software plus services” offerings, with a focus on supporting Microsoft’s global delivery platform and go-to-market strategy.

Primary responsibilities:
Counsel and advise executives and other clients on a wide variety of complex and developing legal and business issues regarding the delivery of online services.
Collaborate with LCA colleagues and legal and policy specialists on a variety of legal and regulatory issues, with an emphasis on privacy, security and regulatory compliance.
Partner with business development team supporting product development and product marketing projects relating to the Microsoft Online platform and services.
Structure, draft and negotiate significant transactional documents relating to the sale, distribution or marketing of online services.
Support LCA colleagues in the field for input and coordination on customer and partner transactions raising issues of first impression.

We are looking for an attorney who meets the following requirements:
Minimum of 7 years as a practicing attorney, with solid experience in commercial transactions;
Major law firm or large company experience is preferred;
Background in software as a service or outsourcing is preferred;
International experience is preferred;
Outstanding analytical, organizational and communication skills.

Keen business sense, ability to think strategically and desire to establish a trusted advisor relationship with executives and other business clients.
Flexible and analytical thinker able quickly to identify legal issues in a complex environment and to develop solutions by exercising confident judgment in ambiguous situations.
Demonstrated ability to work efficiently, meet demanding deadlines in a fast-paced environment, prioritize workflow and adjust to frequent workload fluctuations.
Strong results orientation and customer focus.
Desire and ability to work as part of a team.
