Patent Attorney

POSITION SUMMARY: Assist Garmin's collegial and fast-paced Legal Department with intellectual property matters.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Conduct patent and literature prior art searches
* Oversee, prepare, and prosecute patent applications
* Assist with patentability reviews
* Provide litigation support and legal advice on patent validity and infringement issues

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Assist with other position-appropriate intellectual property matters on an as-needed basis, including overseeing, preparing and prosecuting trademark applications and preparing licensing and confidentiality
agreements
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
* Law degree from an American Bar Association (ABA) accredited law school
* Admission to practice as an attorney before the bar of any State or the District of Columbia
* Registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office
* 0-5 years experience as an attorney

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Aggressive and Creative Problem Solving Skills
* Degree (Bachelor's or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
* Industry experience as an engineer or software developer
